Expo 2020 Dubai will celebrate its last day with a spectacular closing ceremony

This Thursday, March 31, Expo 2020 Dubai will say goodbye to its visitors in a spectacular closing ceremony that will feature star performances by Christina Aguilera, Norah Jones and Yo-Yo Ma.

Expo 2020 Dubai will not fail to surprise its visitors even on the day of its closing. On March 31, one of the biggest universal events to date will close its doors with a spectacular ceremony that will look to the future at Al Wasl Plaza, the heart of the Exhibition.

This closing event will bring together world music icons such as pop legend Christina Aguilera; singer, songwriter and pianist Norah Jones; and Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma. They will dazzle audiences with their performances on the main stages, the Festival Garden and various International Pavilions.

This spectacular event will kick off with the young Emirati presenter who welcomed visitors at the opening ceremony and will embark them on another fascinating journey. For 182 days, she grew, learned and connected with people from all over the world. The magic will continue into the night with full headlining concerts from each artist at the Jubilee Stage and the Dubai Millennium Amphitheater.

Also taking the stage will be the Expo 2020 World String Ensemble, a group of 16 talented international musicians led by maestro Harout Fazlian, and renowned Italian pianist Eleonora Constantini. However, the young public will be the true protagonist of this final event that will focus on the next generation. Expo 2020 Dubai will exclusively invite hundreds of children from across the UAE to witness the wonders of the country over the course of the next 50 years.

The closing ceremony cast will include more than 400 professionals and volunteers from 56 different countries, with 745 costumes created for the culmination of the Dubai World Expo. Forty members of a UAE-based boys’ choir will perform Ishy Bilady, the UAE National Anthem, along with the Women’s Firdaus Orchestra, conducted by Yasmina Sabbah.

Expected to be one of the busiest and most successful events since its opening, visitors are advised to arrive early to make the most of the site-wide entertainment and activities. Expo Dubai 2020 has also thought of all those who cannot attend and will broadcast the ceremony live on Virtual Expo and Expo TV.

Since its opening in October 2021, the number of visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai has not stopped growing. Last February the venue reached a total of 15,995,423 visits, of which almost 9% belong to the Spain Pavilion.
